Frequently Asked Questions

  • Parent coaching is like therapy, light. It’s great for parents whose kids don’t need their own therapist, but they’d like to be able to draw from the experience and resources of a child therapist.

A parent coach is your guide, helping you navigate challenges, feel confident about what you’re already doing, unlock your inner wisdom, and build meaningful connections with your children. My years as a child therapist mean that I can anticipate how your child might be feeling even if they aren’t saying it, and help you decide how to best respond to them.

  • As a licensed child therapist with nearly 20 years of experience I can easily tell you if your child’s behaviors are developmentally appropriate, what to do about them if they’re not, and how you can best respond to your child to minimize problems and maximize connection. I enjoy working with parents to find realistic, solution-focused strategies they can implement immediately.

  • Every family is unique! Having worked with over 1,000 families in my history as a child therapist, I have learned that there is no one-size-fits-all-approach. Even my e-courses are customizable and include various strategies for families with different values, histories, and parenting approaches.

  • Indeed! I'll equip you with strategies for building your children's coping mechanisms, helping them adjust to the new family structure(s), and navigate ongoing challenges with confidence. If it’s helpful I also assess with parents what behaviors are normal stress reactions in kids and which are red flags to look out for.

  • There’s a saying in mental health “if you think you ruined your kids you probably did, if you think you didn’t you definitely did.” Our awareness that we’ve probably contributed to our kids’ stuff means we’re probably doing okay. It’s the parents who think they’ve mastered it all that I worry about, so if you’re not sure what you’re doing you’re amongst some of the best. As a parent myself I know we’re all trying to survive, and some days are harder than others.

  • The most common feedback I get following a coaching session is “this has been so helpful!” My goal is to brainstorm with you practical strategies and solutions to help with whatever the issue is. If I suggest a strategy that isn’t realistic I expect parents to say that won’t work so that we can continue searching for strategies that will.

My goal is to help you rediscover your parenting power, build stronger, more connected relationships, and navigate challenges with newfound confidence and effective communication. Please see some of the testimonials clients have provided below.

  • Ninety percent of the time when I do parent coaching, I’m sharing some content from one of the e-courses. That’s because I designed the e-courses around the questions parents ask me most often.

The e-courses allow parents to go at their own pace, pause at any time, and get about 8x as much information as I can offer in a one hour coaching call. Plus, parents who have purchased the e-course have access for life so they can revisit resources at any time.
